As members of Water Safety Scotland we welcomed its chairman Michael Avril, of RNLI as we hosted a stand & lifesaving activities at the event to mark the official opening of the salmon season on the River Teith at Callander.
Water Safety Scotland's partners are working hard towards a reduction in the loss of life by drowning across the country. They include the RNLI, RoSPA, RLSS, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Over the course of 3 hours at today's event we trained 25 people to use a throw-line to aid a water rescue situation and trained 12 people how to perform CPR and use an AED.
The Provost of Stirling - Christine Simpson, Interim Chief Executive - Carol Beattie and Councillor Graham Lambie each had a go with the throwline, with Graham being clear winner - on the target first throw. A bit of fun with a serious message and a few minutes training that could save a life.
We wish to thank Stirling Council Fisheries for a well organised event, Safequip and Arnold Clark for their support of our work today, Mhor Bread for lunch and Deanston Single Malt Scotch Whisky for a 12 year old miniature each to enjoy this evening.
