Another sad moment for Trossachs Search and Rescue Team - at the grand old age of 14, retired search dog Taz has sadly been put to rest. His handler, Gayle Wilde, rescued Taz from the dog pound 14 years ago, and decided to train him up as a missing person search and rescue dog. He has been deployed in many searches over the years and has been all over Scotland - on boats, helicopters, on ropes and just plain ordinary vehicles. His most challenging job was the Clutha helicopter tragedy in Glasgow, and his most enjoyable was probably searches in the Outer Hebrides. He loved nothing better than putting on boot tees and harness and working in collapsed structure environments - he literally smiled when doing that kind of work. First and foremost though, he was Gayles’ personal pet and best friend. Gayle can be very proud of all the things he achieved, and the people he has met over the years - Taz was extremely affectionate and loved posing for the cameras - as can be seen by the montage that Gayle has put together. Taz will now no doubt be reminiscing with all his old friends about all his adventures, and hopefully Gayles’ new dog, Merlin will be able to follow in his footsteps. A sad day for us all - especially for Gayle and all her family.
